NILES Niles resident in hospital after robbery, assault

NILES -- A Beaver Avenue man remains hospitalized after being assaulted during a robbery.
Joseph Balogh was in critical condition this morning in St. Joseph Medical Center with head injuries.
Police allege Terri L. Martin, 38, also of Beaver Avenue, forced her way into the home around 9 p.m. Tuesday, grabbed a knife and a pair of scissors, and threatened to kill Balogh and his wife.
Martin reportedly shoved Balogh, who hit his head on a door, and held his wife, Grace, at bay with the weapons.
The report said Grace Balogh gave Martin $300 to get her to leave, but Martin searched an upstairs bedroom for more than an hour.
Police were called around 10:30 p.m. and reported finding a pillow case with rolls of quarters, loose change and jewelry -- later identified by Grace Balogh as her property -- behind a garage at Martin's home.
Martin was arrested about 1 a.m. Wednesday on Clay Street on charges of aggravated robbery, kidnapping and drug abuse after police found her with prescription pill bottles with Joseph Balogh's name on them, marijuana and a suspected crack pipe.
Additional charges may be filed.
Martin was arraigned Wednesday in municipal court and remains in the Trumbull County jail under $10,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. June 25.
