Joanou 50th event celebrated during cruise with family



XBROOKFIELD -- Mr. and Mrs. John A. Joanou, 915 Crestwood Drive, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary during a cruise in May to Key West, Belize and Mexico.
They were accompanied by their daughter and son-in-law, Lori Jean and Sam Chirakos of Dublin and their two granddaughters.
The former Eva Faklis and Mr. Joanou exchanged marriage vows June 7, 1953, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Youngstown.
Mr. and Mrs. Joanou are members of St. Demetrius Hellenic Orthodox Church in Warren.
Retiring in 1985, Mrs. Joanou was a teacher for 35 years in Trumbull County schools. She is a member of the National Education Association, Ohio Education Association, Trumbull County Retired Teachers Association, Howland Schools Retirees, Hermitage Woman's Club, College Club of Sharon, Pa., and Order of the Eastern Star in Sharon.
Mr. Joanou retired in 1986 after working 38 years at Sharon Steel Corp. in Farrell, Pa., where he was a machinist and a member of the safety committee. He is a trustee of the Greek-American Progressive Association and serves as the legislation representative of Sharon Steel Retirees. He is a member of Hebron Lodge, F & amp;AM, West Middlesex, Pa.
