Trial set for man charged with criminal damaging

STRUTHERS -- A Boardman man accused of gluing shut the lock on the front door of the Kwik Fill gas station at 630 Youngstown-Poland Road will be tried July 14 in Struthers Municipal Court.
Shaher Shawoosh, 21, of Boardman-Canfield Road, is free on $100 bond after pleading innocent earlier this month to a charge of criminal damaging. Struthers Detective Simone Ugolini said Shawoosh, an employee of Marathon Oil at 4050 Youngstown-Poland Road, told police he glued the lock June 1 because of disputes with Kwik Fill employees over cigarette and chewing tobacco prices, Ugolini said.
The act delayed the opening of the store and cost the store $250 in damages, Ugolini said.
Shawoosh was identified by a Kwik Fill security camera at 12:23 a.m., when the station was closed, police said.
Employees of the Marathon Oil and Kwik Fill stations had been making agreements about what each would charge for tobacco products so neither gas station could monopolize tobacco sales, said Ugolini. When agreements soured, Shawoosh decided to retaliate, Ugolini said.
