Shooting victim's father finds her car

YOUNGSTOWN -- The car of a 21-year-old North Side shooting victim was discovered abandoned in Campbell with the keys inside.
Police say Tawonna Thomas of Stansbury Drive was shot in the head inside the car around 3 a.m. Wednesday.
Police issued a warrant for the arrest of Tremaine P. Brown, 24, of Youngstown, her boyfriend.
Police said Brown shot Thomas once in the head while she was in the back seat of her 1990 Ford Tempo outside her apartment. Brown then pulled Thomas out of the car, left her on the street, and drove away in the vehicle, police said.
The car was found around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday by Thomas' father on Jean Street in Campbell, near Murray Avenue. The car was impounded by police.
Police said Brown and Thomas had an argument inside Thomas' apartment before the shooting. She grabbed a blanket and went outside to sleep in her car, police said.
A witness told police that Brown followed her outside, pulled a semiautomatic pistol out of his pocket and pointed it toward the car. Brown tried to fire the gun, but it didn't go off, the witness told police.
Brown then walked up to the car, continuing to argue with Thomas and shot her, police said. Police found a large-caliber shell casing, possible a .45-caliber, near the victim's body.
