YOUNGSTOWN -- U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan sent a letter to Vice President Dick Cheney inviting him to visit the Youngstown Air Reserve Station on June 30, the same day he will be in Akron for a political fund-raiser.
Keeping the Vienna reserve station, which employs more than 2,000 people, off the 2005 federal base closure list is Ryan's top priority. Ryan, of Niles, D-17th, wants Cheney to tour the air base to highlight its importance to the county.
