WHAT ABOUT IT? Who really dresses whom

That there is a book titled "Make Over Your Man: The Woman's Guide to Dressing Any Man in Her Life" prompts the question: What's the big deal? Men have been dressing women for centuries -- especially if you include chastity belts.
Consider it was billionaire Howard Hughes who designed a special brassiere in the early 1940s to enhance Jane Russell's endowments for his movie "The Outlaw."
And it is Manolo Blahnik who designs -- but doesn't wear -- those ultra-high heels, though it is a gent named Ferragamo who is often credited with introducing stiletto heels in 1952.
Give credit -- or blame -- to Parisian Louis Reard for inventing the bikini in 1946. And it was Rudi Gernreich who should be blamed for the monokini, those bottoms done up with a top that is nothing more than a couple of straps.
Of course, one need only stand in line at Victoria's Secret to see that what men think looks good on a woman can be the opposite of what a woman thinks she looks good in. Take the gentleman spotted recently sheepishly pulling a red and black lace garter from his shopping bag and asking to exchange it for something a bit more sensible in pale pink.
