SANDLOTS Wharmby hangs on for 1-run win



STRUTHERS -- Wharmby Sports took a 14-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning Friday, then held on for a 14-13 win over Rondinelli's in the Class B Baseball League.
Rondinelli scored nine runs in their last at bat.
Dustin Kulka hit a three-run home run and had two singles and five runs batted in while Greg Mentrek and Jeremy Hedegore had three singles each for Wharmby (6-6).
Hedegore pitched the first six innings for the win allowing three earned runs. He walked one and struck out six.
Greg Rohan had three hits, including a double, while Gary Bucurich had two doubles and Lee Keck three RBIs for Rondinelli (10-3).
Lazart 9, Yo. Express 4
Lazart scored six times in the last two innings to win its seventh game in twelve starts.
Johnathan Poma had a single and a double and Chris Aracich two singles while Travis Garrett had two hits and four RBIs for the winners.
Drew Hazel went the first five innings for the win, allowing no earned runs while striking out three.
Nate Shaw allowed one hit in two innings of relief for the save.
For the Express (1-12), Anthony Rossodivita had two doubles and DJ Yokley added two singles.
Livi Steel 4, Roth Brothers 1
Livi scored three times in the top of the first inning and went on to the win to move into first place all alone at 11-2.
Line Drive (10-2) was rained out.
Phil Butch had three hits and Doug Brow a single and a double for Livi. Tim Wright pitched a complete game, scattering eight singles. He walked one and struck out five.
Joe McCrackin had two hits for Roth (3-9).
Jeff Claar pitched three scoreless innings of relief for Roth with three strikeouts.
Postponed
The Astro Falcons/Becdir and Line Drive/Youngstown Propane games were suspended by rain.
Class AA League
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jolly Joe's scored three times in the second inning and held off Roth Bros. 4-3.
Shane Davis and Sean Weyant each had two hits for Jolly Joe's.
Eric Jones had two hits for Roth.
