SCOUTS
Champion Eagle Scout
Cory James Knowlton, a son of Rob and Cheryl Knowlton of Champion, received the Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor at Champion Presbyterian Church.
He is a member of Troop 8 in Leavittsburg, with Todd Garland as Scoutmaster. Cory started Scouting as a Tiger Cub in 1994 with Pack 25 in Champion. While he was a Cub Scout, he earned his Bobcat, Wolf, Bear and Webelos awards. He was presented the Arrow of Light Award, Cub Scouting's highest award, in 1999.
He earned 29 merit badges, several Polar Bear Awards for winter tent camping, and the 50-Mile Afloat Award for canoeing. He has staffed several winter events at Camp Chickagami, and attended the High Adventure Trip to Tinnerman Canoe base in Ontario, Canada. He took the "North Star Junior Leader" training course.
Cory is an Ordeal and Brotherhood member in Wapashuwi Lodge 56 of Order of the Arrow.
His leadership positions have included scribe, librarian, assistant patrol leader, quartermaster and troop guide, and he currently is senior patrol leader.
His Eagle Project involved designing and supervising the construction of shelving units for the praise and drama team storage room at Champion Presbyterian Church.
A freshman at Champion High School, he plays the trumpet in the high school's pep, marching and concert bands. He also is a member of the cross-country and track teams. Additionally, he is active in the church's youth group and is a sound system technician for the church's contemporary worship.
North Lima Eagle Scout
Christopher Leslie Wiff, 18, of North Lima, received his Eagle Scout Award during a recent court of honor at Memorial Park in Salem.
Wiff is assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 80; his Scoutmaster is Larry Kerr. He has earned 28 merit badges and has held many leadership positions within the troop. He also is a member of the Order of the Arrow.
His Eagle Scout project was to refurbish and landscape around the parsonage of Good Hope Lutheran Church, where he is a member.
He is a junior at South Range High School and a member of the marching band and orchestra.
He is the son of Glenn and Debie Wiff of North Lima.
Warren Eagle Scout
Jasen Andrew Gregory, son of Stanley and Barbara Gregory of Warren, recently received his Eagle Scout Award during a court of Honor at Knights of Columbus Council 620 in Warren.
Jasen became a member of Boy Scout Troop 15 in 1996. His Scoutmaster is Thomas S. Namola.
He has held the positions of patrol leader, senior patrol leader and junior assistant Scoutmaster, and is currently an assistant Scoutmaster.
He is a member of Order of the Arrow Wapashuwi Lodge 56, Tapawingo Chapter, the honor camping society of the Boy Scouts.
He attended Northstar Junior Leader Training and National Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia, both in 2001.
His Eagle service project was to plan and construct a set of risers for the choir and other functions in the gym of St. Pius School (Notre Dame School).
He is a senior at Warren G. Harding High School, where he played center for the football team. He also was on the school's track and bowling teams.
DOCTORS
Case Western Reserve
Rebecca Kate Ameduri of Cleveland Heights has earned the degree of doctor of medicine from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland. She also received the Alice Paige Cleveland Prize, given to the woman in the School of Medicine graduating class who has shown outstanding leadership qualities.
Dr. Ameduri is the daughter of Gene and Kathie Ameduri of Poland and is married to Dr. Sameer Gupta of Cleveland Heights. She graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1995 and from Case Western Reserve University in 1999, summa cum laude, with a bachelor of arts degree in biology.
She will begin her residency in pediatrics in June at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland.
LAW DEGREE
Harvard Law School
Cameron Tims Casey, formerly of Boardman, received her juris doctorate degree cum laude from Harvard Law School and will begin work in September at Ropes & amp; Gray law firm in Boston.
She is a 1992 graduate of Boardman High School and will take the Massachusetts bar exam in July. She is married to Michael J. Casey of Huntington, N.Y., and is the daughter of Atty. Jay and Jane Tims of Kilmarnock, Va., formerly of Mill Creek Drive, Boardman. Jane Tims formerly was a longtime Vindicator columnist.
Michigan State University
Mark Robert Fletcher of Youngstown graduated with his juris doctorate degree cum laude from Michigan State University-Detroit College of Law.
Fletcher received several awards while at law school and participated in the Federalist Society and law review activities. He received a bachelor's degree in political science and economics from the University of Michigan and earned his master's degree in business administration from Michigan State University. He has entered a financial management rotation program with Federal Mogul Corp. in Michigan.
LAWYERS
Passed Iowa bar exam
Tonya Y. Brady, formerly of Youngstown, has passed the Iowa Bar examination and is now working with the intellectual-property law firm of McKee, Voorhees & amp; Sease Inc. PLC in downtown Des Moines.
Brady, the daughter of Samuel and Delois Brady, is a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. She obtained her baccalaureate degree in molecular genetics from Ohio State University and her juris doctorate from the University of Dayton School of Law.
Her past career experience includes working as a research assistant in a molecular carcinogenesis lab in the Department of Radiology at OSU College of Medicine for five years before attending law school. She is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association.
