H. Marvin Wilds to receive prestigious service award
AKRON -- The Ohio Council of Deliberation was held June 7 in Akron, during which H. Marvin Wilds of Canfield was named the 2003 recipient of the Meritorious Service Award.
The award is presented to only one member of the Valley of Youngstown each year.
Wilds is a member of Argus Lodge 545 in Canfield and the Youngstown Shrine Club, for which he has served as director of children's services and chairman of the speakers bureau. He also is in charge of securing all the nonspeaking parts for the various degrees in the Scottish Rite.
A former school superintendent and college instructor, Wilds is a member of the Trumbull Interscholastic Association, past president of Phi Delta Kappa and recipient of the United Veterans Council's Veteran of the Year award for 2002. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and is a member of Mahoning United Methodist Church.
He and his wife, Alice, live in Canfield.
Wilds will receive his certificate, cap and jewel next June at the Council of Deliberation in Cleveland.
