Police and Fire Games kick off this weekend



WARREN -- The Trumbull County Sheriff's Department and county firefighters will host the 26th annual Ohio Police and Fire Games from Sunday through June 20.
The departments anticipate 1,500 police and firefighters from Ohio will come to Warren to participate in a variety of events.
The weeklong games will begin with a 5K run/walk in downtown Warren at 9 a.m. Saturday. This event is open to the public.
Opening ceremonies will take place Sunday at Cafaro Field in Niles, beginning at 5 p.m.
The ceremonies include a flyover by a Stat MedEvac helicopter and welcome speeches by Howland Fire Chief George Brown and Trumbull County Sheriff Tom Altiere.
The opening ceremonies will also include a presentation by New York City Firefighter Tom Falco, who was featured on "Dateline NBC" about his Sept. 11 World Trade Center experiences. A special presentation will be made to the family of Youngstown Patrolman Michael Hartzell.
