Mooney selects Jack Berman as next girls basketball coach
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jack Berman, Roy Nard's long-time assistant coach, has been named the new girls basketball coach at Cardinal Mooney High School.
Berman began his career as an aide to Tom Albrecht in 1987. He also has been Nard's assistant since 1995. Nard retired in the spring.
Berman says that he is "excited about the opportunity" and that with "hard work, the addition of [my] philosophy and a little luck, the Cardinals' program will reach a new level of success."
While the school's top scorer (Aieshya Dixon/University of Pittsburgh) recently graduated, the second- and third-leading scorers will be returning.
Berman's immediate attention will be focused on organizing the school's summer camp and preparing the squad for its varsity camp at the end of the summer.
Berman, who is involved in the family business, Berman Electric, is in the process of organizing his staff and will be announcing his complete staff in the coming weeks.
