MINERAL RIDGE Weathersfield police chief has warning for speeders
MINERAL RIDGE -- Joseph Consiglio, Weathersfield Township police chief, warned motorists that police will be clamping down on speeders now that summer vacation is here for township children.
"We're going to start writing tickets for speeders," he said at Tuesday's township trustees meeting.
The chief also said that police have had several meetings for a neighborhood watch in the township's Oakview Manor area and that any other residents interested in forming one in their area should contact the police department.
Farm trouble
Consiglio also told residents of The Woodlands residential development, off Morris Lane, to contact police if they have continued problems with dogs barking at a nearby farm, or if they hear shooting from the farm or from neighboring properties.
One woman from the residential neighborhood said she has bullet holes in the siding of her house from last year when shots were fired from the farm or nearby.
Officer hired
Trustees hired Elizabeth Lewis as a probationary part-time police officer. A 1989 Mineral Ridge High School graduate, Lewis and her husband, Jack, live in Newton Township. She also works full time as an investigator for the Trumbull County Children Services Department.
Trustees also moved to hire two part-time summer employees effective Tuesday. No salary information was available.
Trustee Fred Bobovnyk said a second mosquito spraying will take place in the township June 24. The rain date is June 29.
