DETAILS Proposed gun ban

Features of legislation before Youngstown City Council to ban possession or sale of assault firearms:
Defines assault-type guns as semiautomatic firearms that can accept a detachable magazine with a capacity of 20 or more rounds.
Defines semiautomatic firearms as those that fire a single cartridge and chamber another when the trigger is pulled once. A fully automatic firearm fires a succession of cartridges when the trigger is pulled once.
Included are semiautomatic shotguns with magazine capacities of more than six rounds.
Exempted are .22-caliber firearms with detachable magazines with a capacity of up to 30 rounds.
