CLASS B Ford powers Line Drive to 9-7 triumph
STRUTHERS -- Dan Ford went 4-for-4 with two RBIs as Line Drive Academy defeated Rondinelli Tuxedo 9-7 in Class B baseball action Tuesday at Cene Park.
The result created a three-way tie atop the standings between Line Drive, Rondinelli and Livi Steel -- all are 9-2.
Jon Zizzo, Chris Tremblay and John Mang had two hits each for the winners. One of Ford's hits was a double while Zizzo had a triple.
Cole Budinsky pitched the first 4 2/3 innings for the win, while Matt Madrid picked up the save.
Mike DeNiro and Scott Bender had three hits each for Rondinelli while Gabe McKee and Josh Conkey added two hits apiece.
Bender had three RBIs and a triple while Greg Rohan had a double for Rondinelli.
Livi Steel 9, Lazart 3
A 16-hit attack, led by the 4-for-4 performance of Doug Brown, enabled Livi to move into a tie for first.
Brown had a two-run home run and a double while Matt Geramita added two hits, including a double, for Livi.
Phil Butch, Sean Lucas and Josh Geric also had two hits for the winners while Drew Mullee had a double and three RBIs. Elliott Stevenson went five-plus innings for the win, allowing just one run.
For Lazart (6-4), Jonathan Poma had two hits, including a double, while Rick Dimuzio had a triple.
Astro Falcons 4, Youngstown Express 1
John Hay struck out 10 in a complete-game three-hitter as Astro Falcons improved to 7-3. Hay allowed just one unearned run.
Ed Morales pitched well in defeat, going the distance for the Express (1-10). He allowed just three earned runs while striking out three and walking two. Dan Monico had two hits for the Express.
