WARREN Noon in Park music series will kick off its 27th year
The series began in 1976 and has grown in popularity.
WARREN -- The 27th annual Noon in the Park series starts Friday and continues through Aug. 1
The series runs weekly from noon to 1 p.m. on Courthouse Park.
"Noon in the Park is the longest continuous program sponsored by the arts council," said Bobbie Brown, director of the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County.
The series was introduced in 1976 to provide summertime arts experiences to area residents. The showcase of regional professional musicians has become more popular with each passing year. The event started out with two performances.
This year about 150 musicians will perform.
Without the financial support of the American Federation of Musicians Local No. 116 and the Music Performance Trust Fund, Noon in the Park wouldn't be possible.
The federation secures funding from local businesses and corporations to match funds available from the Recording Industries Music Performance Trust Funds to compensate the musicians.
