Salcedo brotherswin qualifiers
BOARDMAN -- Bryant Salcedo, age 14, and his brother, Robert, 12, each won the Northeast Ohio Tennis Association qualifying tournament in their respective age divisions.
Robert won the boys 12 and under age division and advanced to Lansing, Mich., on June 20, to compete in the Midwest Closed USTA event with players from Indiana. Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Ohio.
Bryant won the boys 16 and under division and advanced to Indianapolis on June 20. He is ranked No. 5 in boys 14 in the midwest and No. 26 in the nation.
He will attend Boardman High in the fall.
South Range awardssportsmanship
GREENFORD -- Megan Sosnowski and Jeremy Oddo were presented with Archie Griffin Sportsmanship awards at the South Range Middle School athletic banquet.
The award is part of a program by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
Pitcher Novoseldrafted by Arizona
WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- West Middlesex High graduate Walt Novosel was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks and will report to minicamp this week.
A senior left-handed pitcher from Ohio University, Novosel was drafted in the 22nd round last week.
Novosel, a co-captain for the Bobcats, finished his college career ranked second all-time in career innings (283) and third all-time in career strikeouts (222).
Special Olympiansat state games
COLUMBUS -- More than 2,500 Special Olympics athletes from Ohio will meet in Columbus from June 20-22 for the Special Olympics State Summer Games.
The athletes will represent 119 local organizations from 71 counties. Competition will be held in 11 sports.
Horse show
MEADVILLE, Pa. --The Penn-Ohio Morgan Horse Association will hold its annual show at the Crawford County Fairgrounds July 4-6.

Boardman manto coach
DUBLIN, Ireland -- John J. Muransky of Boardman will coach the rollerskaters in Ohio's 24-member delegation to the 2003 Special Olympics World Games, to be held in Dublin, Ireland on June 21-29.
Muransky is head rollerskating coach of the Great Lakes Region. Athletes from 160 countries will compete.

ERIE, Pa. -- Tyler Minges, Ron Wright, Victor Valencia and Corey Smith hit solo homers as the Akron Aeros beat the Erie SeaWolves 4-1 Monday night in the second game of an Eastern League doubleheader.
Erie won the first game, 8-1.
Man sentenced
CLEVELAND -- A man was sentenced to three years in prison for throwing an explosive device at Jacobs Field during a Cleveland Indians game last year.
Andrew Mendez, 21, of Elyria, will appeal, said his attorney.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte's NBA expansion team will be called the "Bobcats," a nod to the owner who spent $300 million for the franchise.
Bob Johnson selected Bobcats over "Flight" and "Dragons."
NBA trade
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento Kings completed a complicated trade of first-round draft picks with the Detroit Pistons.
Detroit got Sacramento's rights to the Atlanta Hawks' pick in one of the next two drafts. In return, the Kings reclaimed a first-round pick they traded to Detroit two years ago.
