HUBBARD Township receives bids for summer paving work

A meeting is set to discuss sewer system issues.
HUBBARD -- Township trustees opened five bids Monday night for this season's road-paving project. Gennaro Pavers Inc. of Warren submitted the lowest bid at $35,617.
Trustee Joseph Gleydura will review the bids, and the contract will be awarded at a special meeting June 26.
Trustees announced that the Ohio Department of Transportation told them a posted speed limit is not necessary at this time in the area near the new Flying J Truck Plaza on state routes 62/7. ODOT said speeding was not an issue among the 200 motorists it surveyed. The township requested a "speed zone."
Time Warner Cable has notified the township it is increasing the cable fee by $1 effective July 1, and trustees approved seeking a $300,000 state grant for sewers in the Maplewood Park area.
Trustees also announced forming a joint committee with the city to work together on common areas, particularly consistent traffic laws on state routes 304, 62 and 7, which run through both the city and township.
Sewer system meeting
A meeting was announced for 7:30 p.m. June 26 in the township building about the Trumbull County Health Department's attempts to make homeowners in the southwest corner of the township who have septic systems tap into a sewer system.
Residents of Lawnview and Garden roads petitioned the township to pave those roads at the cost of $150 per property. That would leave Rosedale as the township's only unpaved road.
Gleydura said he is trying to arrange a meeting in the next two months between the city and the township to discuss a joint police force.
