Girard Chamber plans anniversary gala in streets

GIRARD -- The Greater Girard Area Chamber of Commerce and Northcoast Pools, 103D Harry St., will close down Harry Street for a celebration of the company's fourth year in Girard from 11 a.m. until dark Saturday.
The chamber will have a mixer during the event, which will feature live music by the Rage, food and entertainment.
Vacation giveaways, games, prizes and swimming will be part of the entertainment.
Chamber President Patrick Rubinic said the chamber has picked up about 12 to15 new members in the last two months, bringing the total to about 80.
The chamber also has been having mixers every month for members and the executive board and has changed its meeting to the third Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m at the Girard Free Library instead of the third Thursday of every month.
Despite a dip in chamber activity in the last year, Rubinic said the "chamber always continues. It never went away, it just slowed down."
