GM recalls Rendezvous model to make a fix
DETROIT -- General Motors Corp. is recalling about 107,000 model year 2002-03 Buick Rendezvous vehicles to repair the rear lift-gate.
All 2002 and some 2003 models are involved. Of the total, about 95,000 of the crossover sport utility vehicles are in the U.S. and 12,000 are in Canada.
In severe crashes, the lift-gate structure may fracture and the lift-gate may separate from the latch assembly and open. In one case, GM said, a person in a vehicle was injured after the lift-gate tore away from the latch.
Detroit-based GM will fix the lift-gate by adding a metal strap between the inner and outer panels. The repair will be done at no cost to owners.

Striking workers returnto Macali's Giant Eagle
NILES -- Deli workers and meat cutters returned to work Monday at Macali's Giant Eagle after being on strike since April 30. The 18 workers, who are members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 880, ratified a new contract Sunday by a 16-1 vote.
The contract provides raises of 90 cents an hour over three years. Workers will continue to have pension contributions and health care insurance fully paid by the company. The contract is retroactive to January, when the last contract expired.
"We are happy to have everyone back to work, and we will put this strike behind us and move forward and not look back," said Robert Macali, store owner.
Gary Weitzel, Youngstown area coordinator for the union, called the agreement good for both the workers and the company.
The store was open during the strike. More than 100 other workers who aren't members of Local 880 remained on the job.
