POTOMAC, Md. (AP) -- Rory Sabbatini put on a fine Sunday finish without the usual Sunday paycheck, shooting a 68 to take a one-shot lead after three rounds of the rain-delayed FBR Capital Open.
Sabbatini was 11-under par with a 202 total, but he'll have to come back today as he aims for a second career PGA Tour victory. The final two rounds of the tournament were moved back a day after steady downpours wiped out play Saturday.
Swede Nicklas Fasth, a member of Europe's victorious Ryder Cup team a year ago, shot a 67 to move into second place with a 203 total. Duffy Waldorf was three shots off the lead in third place, while Fred Funk, Padraig Harrington, Chris DiMarco, J.L. Lewis, Rich Beem and Tom Gillis were another stroke back in a tie for fourth.
Play resumed early today, with the leaders teeing off at 9:30 a.m., so the players could get done and move on to Olympia Fields near Chicago to prepare for the U.S. Open, which starts Thursday.
Fasth, a member of the European tour, played clinical golf for 12 holes, getting to every green in regulation, until he pulled his tee shot into the rough at the par-5 13th. He played his second shot to the fringe of a rarely used alternate fairway and eventually two-putted from 12 feet for a bogey.
Senior PGA Championship
NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. -- John Jacobs shot a 2-under 68 in the final round to claim a two-stroke victory over Bobby Wadkins in the Senior PGA Championship.
Jacobs, 58, birdied the 15th and 16th holes to pull away from Wadkins in the first major championship of the Champions Tour season. Bruce Lietzke and defending champion Fuzzy Zoeller tied for third, three shots behind the oldest player to win the Senior PGA since 61-year-old Pete Cooper won in 1976.
Jacobs finished at 4-under 276.
British Masters
MERIDEN, England -- Greg Owen of England won the British Masters by three strokes for his first victory in six years on the European tour.
He closed with a 1-under-par 71 for a 14-under 274 total at Forest of Arden. England's Ian Poulter (70) and France's Christian Cevaer (68) shared second at 277.
Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke (66), England's Robert Rock (68) and England's Anthony Wall (71) were next at 280.
