Democratic Party seems intent on embarrassing
Democratic Party seemsintent on embarrassing
EDITOR:
Will someone please point out to the chairperson of the Mahoning Valley Democratic Party that her party, in conjunction with our Valley's less than informed constituency that it has preyed on over the years is indeed solely responsible for every bit of the highly negative and totally deserved reputation of corruption this Valley has had for the past 30 years.
To insinuate that the recent FBI probe is the cause of our reputation, and not the much needed first step in changing that perception, is just absolutely ludicrous, and sadly enough, typical. Quite frankly, it is just plain outright insulting. The local Republican Party is fiscally responsible and fairly intelligent enough to see the futility of wasting election campaign funds in an area where it is practically illegal to be a Republican.
This Valley has shown the entire country that it condones corruption by sending the likes of convicted felon Jim Traficant to Washington for 20 years after knowing he took money from the mob as sheriff, regardless if he was found not guilty at trial. That trial jury's decision ranks right up there with O.J.'s jury decision in that those 12 people were out to prove a point to the feds and to The Vindicator that you can't tell us what to do, regardless if laws were broken. It was "a travesty of a mockery of a sham," to paraphrase Woody Allen.
Local Democrats with ties to the mob, a congressman with a known mob bag man on his staff for years, payoffs, kickbacks, case tampering, dirty sheriffs -- and everyone knew it, yet people still voted these Democrats back to their offices. What kind of insight does that shed on the moral aptitude that a possible new employer can expect from over half of his/her prospective employees if it moves a business to the Valley? Not a very good one. The Democratic Party has a history of preying on less fortunate constituencies such as those here in the Mahoning Valley, Kentucky, and NYC.
Let's face the reality that no MCDP member would dare publicly gloat over the fact that the most educated or affluent Valley residents move out of this area as soon as they can in order to find or keep good employment. There are no good jobs in this area, and the Democrats have never created good jobs in this area. They have never saved jobs either. Sadly there will certainly be no jobs created as long as they stay in power.
Just look at the convention center project. Pathetic and embarrassing. Politics at its worst. And please stop pointing to the Vienna air base as a source of jobs and pride. Those jobs are military, for National Guard members only, not for local people who need a job most, and that base will soon be closed anyway, no matter what Tim Ryan does, because it is simply not needed anymore.
As far as the Democrats who exercised incredibly poor judgment and went on TV the other night to say good things about Jerry Springer, please resign now and save yourself, your families and this Valley from any more embarrassment than you already have brought down by your asinine statements about that fraud of a man.
Really now ... Jerry Springer? I'd laugh if it weren't so pathetic.

Bring back my chair, please; and the next time, ask firstEDITOR:
I would like to say to the lady in the two-tone blue mini van who took the old wooden chair with the red vinyl seat and back at a property on South Portland Avenue the morning of Friday, June 6 -- please bring my chair back! If you thought this chair was out for the trash you were sadly mistaken -- couldn't you see that it was being used as a lawn ornament?
If you wanted it that bad, why didn't you knock on the door and ask if it was being tossed out. Don't you know it's notnice to steal from other people? That chair had been sitting in that same spot since last year. The elderly gentleman across the street used it to sit on while I would work in my yard. Please, if you have any conscience, bring my chair back.
