Cops chase man, arrest him on drug charges
AUSTINTOWN -- Police said they arrested a South Raccoon Road man wanted on drug trafficking charges Monday after a chase.
David Wick, 22, was secretly indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury on a felony charge of drug abuse cocaine and four felony charges of trafficking in marijuana.
Police said they heard Wick and a woman talking inside Wick's apartment when they arrived to arrest him around 6 p.m. When police knocked on the door, the conversation inside the apartment ended.
Police said they then saw Wick running out a patio door across South Raccoon Road. He was caught and arrested on South Yorkshire Boulevard.
The woman in the apartment, Jayne Kalenits, 40, who also lives there, told police that she did not hear them knock and that she had not seen Wick since Monday morning.
Kalenits was arrested and charged with resisting arrest for not answering the door, which allowed Wick to flee, police said.
