Salem boy receives unusual punishment

Some Salem parents used an unusual method to punish their son for stealing. The boy was made to stand along North Ellsworth Avenue recently and hold a sign stating: "I'm a thief and a liar."
Someone passing by saw the boy and notified police, who investigated. The parents explained the punishment and said the boy had just about completed it. Police took no action. It's unclear how old the boy was.
