AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating allegations that a 28-year-old Poland man, who is a convicted sex offender, had sexual contact with two Austintown brothers, ages 8 and 6.
No charges have been filed.
Police said the man was hired as a baby sitter. He is accused of touching the boys' genitalia in their home and his Poland home over a period of a few weeks, police said.
As part of his probation, the man is not permitted to have any contact with children.
Alcohol in fatal accident
VIENNA -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol has determined that alcohol played a part in the accident that killed a 31-year-old Boardman motorcyclist Saturday morning.
Kevin Gnapp died in the accident, off Warren-Sharon Road. The motorcycle was heading west before veering off the road, hitting a ditch and crashing through the fence in front of a house between Sodom-Hutchings and Warren roads, state patrol reports say.
The accident was discovered when the homeowner arrived home at 5:30 a.m.
Gnapp was wearing a helmet.
The patrol has not said what Gnapp's alcohol-blood content level was.
Dog bites boy
YOUNGSTOWN -- A man turned his dog loose and it bit a child several times just before 6 p.m. Sunday, police said.
Edward Dobran, 13, of Forest View Drive was with his mother, Anita Dobran, who went to a neighbor's home on the city's East Side to discuss remarks the neighbor had made.
The mother told police the neighbor opened a gate and allowed the dog to attack the boy and did nothing to restrain it.
No charges have been filed.
A police report said the boy was treated at Forum Health Northside Medical Center, but the hospital said it had no record of his being treated there.
Literacy program awards
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Adult Basic and Literacy Education program at Choffin Career and Technical Center will have an awards ceremony June 17 at 6 p.m. in the commons area of the center, 200 E. Wood St.
The ceremony will honor outstanding adults and GED graduates.

Postal event to take place
ELLSWORTH -- Postal employees will cancel 37-cent stamps with a special mark commemorating the Ohio bicentennial from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Ellsworth Fire Station.
Stamp collectors and the general public are invited to the event, which is sponsored by American Legion Post 76. Post members will be on hand to sell American, Ohio and POW-MIA flags and to accept old U.S. flags for destruction later.
On sale during the event will be Old Glory and Ohio Statehood postage stamps, according to Rick Short, Ellsworth postmaster.
Cookies and punch will be served.
The fire station is on state Route 45, just north of U.S. Route 224.

Work to cut water service
CANFIELD -- Youngstown Water Department customers on Curtis Drive in the township will not have water service for five hours Tuesday.
Water will be shut off from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. while work is done on the main waterline on Curtis Drive.
After water is restored, tap water to be used for cooking and drinking should be boiled for about one minute, officials said.
