New Microsoft softwareaids digital programming
SEATTLE -- Microsoft Corp. intended to unveil new software today to help cable television companies develop digital TV programming and services. The software, called Microsoft TV Foundation Edition, is designed to run on the digital cable boxes that sit atop many television sets. The software, installed on both customers' set-top boxes and on computer servers at cable companies, includes applications for cable operators to create and deliver on-screen TV guides, movies-on-demand and interactive advertisements for their customers.

TransDigm announcesplans to buy company
RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- TransDigm Holding Company announced Sunday its senior management along with venture capital firm Warburg Pincus will buy the company from Odyssey Investment Partners.
Terms weren't disclosed and the deal is scheduled to close in the third quarter of this year.
Richmond Heights, Ohio-based TransDigm is privately held holding company with $258 million in annual sales, according to Warburg spokesman Kenny Juarez. The company's five subsidiaries design, manufacture and sell aerospace components used in commercial and military aircraft.
