COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- George Biddle pitched a complete game and hit a three-run double as Newark Catholic won its second consecutive Division IV state baseball championship with an 8-1 victory over Minster on Saturday.
Newark Catholic (27-5) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with an RBI double from Scott Lake and Matt Haycook's sacrifice.
Minster (20-8) got an RBI double from Jon Kaylor in the first for the Wildcats' only run.
The Green Wave picked up six more runs in the seventh inning, including Biddle's three-run double. Biddle also got the win as he gave up one run on five hits and struck out seven in seven innings.
David Patch took the loss, giving up three runs on four hits and striking out two in six innings.
