Falasca is named basketball coach at West Branch



BELOIT -- Michael J. Falasca has been approved as varsity boys basketball coach by the West Branch Board of Education.
Falasca has been varsity assistant coach since 1997. He also served as junior high golf and boys track and field coach, and previously was freshman football and freshman boys basketball coach.
Falasca is a graduate of Western Reserve High and the University of Akron. He also has a master's degree in Art of Teaching from Marygrove (Mich.) College.
At Western Reserve, Falasca earned 11 letters in football, basketball and track and field. He was named All-Inter County League twice in both football and basketball and was second team All-Ohio in both sports as a senior.
In track, Falasca was ICL and county most valuable runner as a junior and a senior.
He participated in the MVCA all-star games in football and basketball, was awarded the Rob Ruane Memorial Trophy as Mahoning County athlete of the year in 1984, and a was a nominee for the Channel 21 Student-Athlete of the Year.
Falasca, a social studies teacher at West Branch Middle School, replaces Lou Sellarolli, who resigned after six seasons.
