CLASS B Tremblay delivers
Line Drive Academy defeated Youngstown Express.
STRUTHERS -- Line Drive Academy nipped Youngstown Express, 4-3, Friday to highlight action in the Youngstown Class B League.
After the Express rallied for three runs to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning, Line Drive (5-1) scored the game-winner in the bottom of the frame.
Craig Dobos led off the last of the seventh and was sacrificed to second by Jon Zizzo.
Chris Tremblay then singled to score the game-winner. Tremblay had two hits for the winners, as did Dan Ford and Mike Turjanica.
John Mang had a two-run scoring double for Line Drive while Vasili Pahoulis pitched a complete game, striking out seven and walking two.
For the Express (1-5), Ed Morales pitched a complete game. Only two of the four runs he allowed were earned as the Express had five errors.
Mike Yacovone had a double and Dan Monico a run-scoring triple in the three-run rally for the Express.
Wharmby Sports 10, Becdir 2
John Warren hit a three-run home run to cap an eight-run first inning for Wharmby (3-4). Warren also had a single.
Greg Mentrek had three hits as did Brian Smith. Mentrek also pitched the first four innings for the win.
For Becdir (2-5), Aaron Boris had a triple .
Lazart 3, Roth Bros. 2
Roth scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game and send it into extra innings.
Matt Leskovic had a single to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning, and scored the winning run on an error. Leskovic had two hits for Lazart (4-3).
Bob Melnek pitched a complete game for the win. He allowed just one earned run, striking out five and walking just two.
For Roth (2-5), Joe McCrackin and Adam DeFord had two hits each. Nate Schaefer went the first seven innings for Roth, allowing just two runs on four hits. He struck out six and walked two.
Chris Aracich added a double for the winners.
Rondinelli Tuxedo 6, Livi Steel 0
Jason Metzka pitched a seven-hit shutout as Rondinelli (7-0) remained undefeated.
Metzka struck out nine and walked five while Livi stranded 15 men.
Rondinelli scored four runs in the fourth inning on two-run scoring singles by Gabe McKee and Lee Keck.
For Livi (5-2), Drew Mullee went 3-for-3 while Steve Orlosky had two hits. Doug Brown retired all eight men he faced in relief for Livi with three strikeouts.
Astro Falcons 4, Yo. Propane 1
Astro Falcons (6-1) got a two-run home run and an RBI double from Chad Baker.
Dan Leonard added two hits, one a triple, for the Falcons.
Frank Turocy picked up the save, retiring all four men he faced.
Aaron Brest had an RBI-single for Propane (0-7). Braden Wilos pitched a complete game in the loss, striking out four and walking three.
