YOUNGSTOWN -- Matt Anderson has been selected as swimming and diving coach.
Anderson spent the last four seasons as assistant coach at Ohio State, where he was recruiting coordinator and oversaw the sprint groups.
Anderson was also assistant swim coach at Northern Illinois, where he was a four-year letter winner.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Coach Tisha Hill officially announced Thursday that Karin Nicholls, Kara Wile and Amy Waugh have joined her staff as assistant coaches.

Morocco selected
YOUNGSTOWN -- Petrina Morocco, a member of the Cardinal Mooney High softball team, will compete with an all-star softball team in the Dominican Republic next month.
Players from the United States will play on the team which will compete against other U.S. and international squads.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Morocco of North Lima and is coached at Mooney by Mark Rinehart.

Fusion play Saturday
CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Fusion (5-1) will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., to play SW Michigan Jaguars (3-3) Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
The Fusion are in playoff contention, trailing the Detroit Demolition in the Great Lakes Division (6-0) by one game.
Cleveland is ranked first and second in the National Women's Football Association offense and defense power rankings, respectively.

AKRON -- Eric Crozier hit an RBI double in the eighth inning, then scored on a wild pitch as the Akron Aeros beat the Trenton Thunder 4-2.

COLUMBUS -- After their midseason shakeup, the Columbus Blue Jackets chose a steady course Friday by keeping Doug MacLean as coach for the team's upcoming fourth season. He will remain president and general manager.
MacLean, 49, fired coach Dave King in January and named himself interim coach. King had gone 64-106-21-13 in two and a half years as the franchise's first head coach.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. -- Bobby Wadkins, Mike San Filippo and John Jacobs shot 2-under 68s to share the first-round lead in the in the Senior PGA Championship.

Neuheisel will fightto keep job
SEATTLE -- Washington coach Rick Neuheisel told coaches and players he would fight to keep his job, a day after he acknowledged breaking NCAA rules by betting on the NCAA basketball tournament.
The Seattle Times reported that Neuheisel participated in informal NCAA basketball pools the past two years.
Two NCAA investigators and one from the Pac-10 questioned him Wednesday after receiving a tip that he put up $5,000 and won about $20,000 by picking Maryland in 2002.

The tear was discovered during an MRI exam Wednesday at Kerlan Jobe Medical Center.
