Medical Society loansavailable to students
Applications for student loans are available from the Mahoning County Medical Society (MCMS). Students applying for loans must be permanent residents of Mahoning or Trumbull county and must have completed at least one year of medical school or school of osteopathic medicine.
The deadline for receipt of applications is June 30, and the loans, ranging from $2,000-$5,000, are awarded in August. If recipients return to the Mahoning Valley to practice, interest on the loans is forgiven. Call MCMS at (330) 758-1624 for more information.

Family Health International has launched a new Web site, http://www.fhi.org, redesigned to make it easier to use, according to FHI. The site emphasizes FHI's core interests -- HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support, and reproductive health, including family planning.
Seminar targets stroke
AUSTINTOWN -- The American Heart Association offers a free seminar, "Surviving A Stroke: A Seminar for Survivors and their Caregivers," on June 28 from 8:30 a.m.-noon, at the Christian Life Center, 6101 S. Raccoon Road. A continental breakfast will be provided.

Lamaze class offered

Sun damage to skin
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Those who like to spend a lot of time in the sun can find out how much damage it's doing to their skin at "The Sensational Skin Seminar" from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at UPMC's Womancare Center, 875 N. Hermitage Road. Dermatologists Lynn R. Williams and Lynn A. Colaiacovo will photograph faces with a special ultraviolet camera which instantly shows how much damage the sun has done to the skin. 'It's a Man's World'
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Men of Goodwill and the Men's Unit, both of the Third Baptist Church, in cooperation with the American Cancer Society and seven other local organizations, will present "It's a Man's World" from 8:30 a.m.-noon Saturday at the church, 1177 Park Hill Drive. Adaptive-fishing outing
