Health department considers vehicles for workers to use

WARREN -- The Trumbull County Health Department is looking into moving employees out of their own cars and into department-owned vehicles.
By purchasing four or five vehicles, the department could cut back the expense of compensating employees for the use of their own cars -- an expense that has been working out to $2,000 to $3,000 a month.
Using vehicles that could be maintained by the county garage, and financed with no interest, could save money, said health commissioner Dr. James Enyeart.
Vehicles emblazoned with the health department's name will also help spread public awareness of the department, he said.
The health department doesn't own any vehicles, although inspectors visit far-flung corners of the county daily, and public health nurses and educators regularly make rounds outside the office.
