Two celebrations held to observe Kness jubilee
XPOLAND -- Mr. and Mrs. Lewis H. Kness of Poland marked their golden wedding anniversary during two celebrations.
A luncheon took place May 3 at Salem Country Club, and an open house was held May 17 at Coitsville Presbyterian Church.
Coordinating the events were the couple's children and spouses, Deborah and Larry McCloskey of Seville and Stephen and Amy Kness of New Springfield.
The former Verna B. Brown and Mr. Kness exchanged marriage vows May 9, 1953, at Calvary Presbyterian Church, Cleveland. They have lived in Poland for 43 years.
A retired registered nurse, Mrs. Kness was a nursing instructor at University Hospitals of Cleveland. She belongs to various civic and charitable organizations.
Mr. Kness, who retired in 1990, worked for Signode Metals, a division of Illinois Tool Works, Chicago.
Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren complete the family.
