SQUAW CREEK Kim, Delasin set for Shoot Out
Natalie Gulbis, Danielle Ammaccapane and Helen Alfredsson also will participate.
VIENNA -- Mi Hyun Kim, the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic's defending champion, will lead a field of 10 professionals taking part in the Butler Wick Shoot Out Tuesday at Squaw Creek Country Club.
Kim, who won last year's Giant Eagle Classic by beating Kelly Robbins in the final round, will be joined by two-time Giant Eagle champion Dorothy Delasin in the four-hole shootout.
The event begins Tuesday at 4 p.m. over holes No. 10 and No. 18.
There will be five two-player teams competing in a scramble format with one team being eliminated on each hole. In case of a tie, a chip-off will be held to determine who is eliminated.
Joining Kim and Delasin in the field will be second-year pro Natalie Gulbis, Danielle Ammaccapane, Helen Alfredsson, Donna Andrews, Michelle Redman, Janice Moodie and Beth Bauer.
One more player will be announced later.
Purse
The players will compete for a purse of $10,000, with $4,000 going to the first place team.
The format was changed this year from the previous two years when the LPGA professionals were joined by area sports celebrities, but the celebrities were dropped this year.
Also on Tuesday will be the Schwebel's Long-Drive contest beginning at 2 p.m. at the No. 1 tee at Squaw Creek Country Club.
Six LPGA pros will compete for $6,000 in prize money.
There also will be an amateur division prior to the professionals' participation.
The pros competing will be led by Wendy Doolan, who ranks No. 3 on the LPGA in driving distance. Others are Annette DeLuca (fourth), Candie Kung (12th), Sherri Turner (19th), Jean Bartholomew (26th) and Caroline Blaylock.
The winner will receive $2,000.
