NASCAR WINSTON CUP
Pocono 500
Schedule: Today, qualifying (Speed Channel, 3 p.m.); Sunday, race (Fox, 12:30 p.m.).
Track: Pocono International Raceway, Long Pond, Pa. (triangular oval, 2.5 miles, 14 degrees banking in turn 1, 8 degrees in turn 2, 6 degrees in turn 3).
Race distance: 500 miles, 200 laps.
Last race: Despite losing the power steering in his Dodge, Ryan Newman held off Jeff Gordon to win the MBNA 400 at Dover International Speedway. Newman is the second two-time winner this season, joining Kurt Busch.
Last year: Dale Jarrett recorded his first victory in almost 11 months by winning the Pocono 500. Jarrett took the lead from Jeff Burton on lap 179 and held on for his first win since the previous July in New Hampshire, a span of 30 races.
Fast facts: Newman won his season-high fourth pole last weekend. ... Bobby Labonte has recorded five straight top-five finishes. ... Robby Gordon has three top-10 finishes in his last six races and moved among the top-10 in the standings for the first time in his career. ... Matt Kenseth leads Dale Earnhardt Jr. by 171 points in the standings. ... Bill Elliott leads all drivers with five wins at Pocono. ... Jeremy Mayfield earned his first Winston Cup victory in the 1998 race. ... Terry Labonte came from 27th to win the 1995 event. ... Jimmy Spencer grew up in Berwick, Pa., about 40 miles from Pocono Raceway. ... Rick Hendrick leads all car owners with eight victories at Pocono.
BUSCH SERIES
Trace Adkins Chrome 300
Schedule: Today, qualifying (Speed Channel, 6 p.m.); Saturday, race (FX, 7:30 p.m.).
Track: Nashville Superspeedway, Gladeville, Tenn. (tri-oval, 1.333 miles, 14 degrees banking in turns).
Race distance: 300 miles, 225 laps.
Last race: Joe Nemechek took advantage of Matt Kenseth's late-race blunder and became the first driver in 17 years at Dover International Speedway to win a Busch race from the pole. Winston Cup points leader Kenseth dominated the race, but missed a shift on a restart on the 155th lap of the MBNA 200. He was hit by Brian Vickers and tried to finish with rear bumper askew and left rear fender bent upward.
Last year: Jack Sprague got a his first Busch victory to go with his lead by taking the inaugural Inside Traxx 300. Sprague has raced in the Busch series since 1989 but had not won in his first 89 tries.
Fast facts: Bodine's lead in the standings shrunk to 76 points over Scott Riggs. ... Mike Bliss has eight top-10 finishes this season. ... Jason Keller is just $20,469 away from becoming the first Busch Series driver to earn $7 million in career earnings. ... David Green won the Pepsi 300 at Nashville Superspeedway on April 12. ... The track replaced Nashville Speedway, where a Busch event has been held since 1984.

CRAFTSMAN TRUCKS
O'Reilly 400K
Schedule: Today, race (Speed Channel, 9 p.m.).
Track: Texas Motor Speedway, Fort Worth (quad-oval, 1.5 miles, 24 degrees banking in turns).
Race distance: 250.50 miles, 167 laps.
Last race: Jason Leffler got his first truck series victory after dominant teammate Ted Musgrave blew his engine during the MBNA 200 at Dover International Speedway. The victory ended a string of frustration for Leffler, who had six second-place finishes.
Last year: Brendan Gaughan led the final 59 laps of the O'Reilly 400 to record his first NASCAR trucks victory. Travis Kvapil, who won at Texas the previous fall, drove his Chevrolet to second place, 2.36 seconds behind the winner. Gaughan, in his 24th career start, is the ninth winner in as many truck races at the track.
Fast facts: Leffler's victory came in the debut of Dennis Connor as his crew chief. Connor has 23 career wins -- the most by any crew chief in series history -- by three-time champion Jack Sprague. ... Robert Pressley will return to the Busch Series in 2004 after signing with ST Motorsports on Tuesday. Pressley has 10 career Busch wins, six poles and a top points finish of third in 1993. ... Kvapil has four top-five finishes in six races this season. ... Bobby Hamilton finished second at Dover and has a 43-point lead over Rick Crawford in the standings. ... Texas Motor Speedway is the only truck venue with nine different winners.

INDY RACING LEAGUE
Bombardier 500
Schedule: Saturday, race (ESPN, 8 p.m.).
Track: Texas Motor Speedway, Fort Worth (quad-oval, 1.5 miles, 24 degrees banking in turns).
Race distance: 300 miles, 200 laps.
Last race: Gil de Ferran held off Helio Castroneves on a six-lap sprint to the end to win the Indianapolis 500 on May 25, spoiling his Brazilian teammate's bid for an unprecedented third straight victory. De Ferran, who was severely injured in a crash March 23 in Phoenix, passed Castroneves for the lead on lap 170 of the 200-lap race and had to fend off his Penske Racing teammate through three restarts.
Last year: Jeff Ward overtook Al Unser Jr. just inches from the finish line to win the Boomtown 500. Ward never led until he beat Unser by just .0111 seconds, the closest finish in IRL history. The record was set at Texas the previous fall.
Fast facts: This is the first of three night races this season. ... The last three IRL races at Texas Motor Speedway have produced the second, third- and fourth-closest finishes in circuit history. Seven of the last 11 races have been decided by less than a second. ... There have been four different winners in as many races this season. Eleven different drivers have finished among the top five in at least one event in 2003. ... Scott Sharp edged Robby McGehee by .059 seconds in the 2000 event and lost to Sam Hornish Jr. by .0188 of a second in the October 2001 race. ... The 2001 race featured protests by Felipe Giaffone and Donnie Beechler after both claimed they were passed during cautions. Giaffone finished third while Beechler placed fifth. ... The inaugural IRL race at Texas was held in 1997. ... Texas Motor Speedway has hosted more IRL races than any other track.
