Products that combine old-fashioned workmanship with simple installation are hard to beat. Although it is about 10 years old, Designer Drywall from Pittcon Industries finally is finding a niche. With panels that provide wainscot walls and tin ceilings, Designer Drywall can create stylish interiors at a fraction of the cost of wood paneling and metal ceilings. Both wall and ceiling panels come in 5/8- and 1/2-inch thicknesses. The wainscot wall panels are 4 feet long and 32 inches high, and a matching upper wall panel is 64 inches high. Ceiling panels are 4-foot squares. Cost for wall and ceiling applications RUNS about $2 per square foot, says Bob Fanneron of Pittconn. Panels are fastened and finished like regular drywall.
