XGIRARD -- First Christian Church provided the setting May 24 for the wedding of Ana Carolina Astacio and Sgt. Robert George Sloan, both of 8094 Sandhill Road, Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif., who exchanged vows before the Rev. Brad McBee.
After the 4 p.m. ceremony the newlyweds accepted congratulations during a reception at the Brentford House in Hubbard.
Parents of the couple are Jorge and Sonia Astacio, 9432 S.W. 155 Ave., Miami, and Robert and Nancy Sloan, 413 Garfield Ave., McDonald.
Embroidered, inverted pleats detailed the bride's white strapless satin gown.
Wearing red satin dresses were the bride's sister and honor attendant, Grace Astacio of Miami, and the bridesmaids, Karen Sloan of McDonald, the groom's sister; Laura Becker of Chicago and Crystal Astacio of Miami, the bride's sisters; and Tannia Sheridan of Miami, the bride's cousin.
Kris Gorman, a cousin of the groom, performed the duties of best man. Groomsmen were Matt Gorman of McDonald, his cousin, and Todd McDermott of Wisconsin.
The couple live in California.
Mrs. Sloan is employed as a passenger-travel specialist in the traffic management office of the U.S. Department of Defense in Twenty-Nine Palms. She served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Her husband is serving as a ground data maintenance specialist with the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in Twenty-Nine Palms.
