Swoopes leads Comets to victory over Phoenix
She had her first double-double in the 66-51 win.

HOUSTON -- Sheryl Swoopes had her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday as the Houston Comets beat the Phoenix Mercury, 66-51.
Tina Thompson added 14 points on 7-of-13 shooting, helping the Comets (3-2) avoid their first three-game losing streak in team history. Two of their three wins this season have come against the Mercury.
Cynthia Cooper watched her teammates win from the bench with a right shoulder injury. Cooper, the WNBA's oldest player at 40, tore her right rotator cuff in practice Monday and will miss at least two weeks.
Tamicha Jackson and Plenette Pierson each scored nine points for the Mercury (1-4), who have lost two in a row.
Storm 70, Monarchs 56
SEATTLE -- Lauren Jackson scored 22 points and tied a career-high with 13 rebounds as the Seattle Storm won their first game of the season.
Center Yolanda Griffith and forward Tangela Smith paced the Monarchs (2-2). Griffith picked up her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Smith had 14 points.
Jackson notched her 10th career double-double and her first of the season.
The victory marks only the second time the Storm (1-3) have beaten the Monarchs in the regular season.
