REPORTING FRAUD Where to go for help
For information or advice from a counselor about Internet, e-mail and telemarketing fraud schemes, or to file an online complaint, visit the National Consumers League's National Fraud Information Center online: www.fraud.org. Or call NFIC's hot line: (800) 876-7060.
Suspect you've already lost money to a "Nigerian" scam? Contact the U.S. Secret Service at (202) 406-5572 or by e-mail at www.secretservice.gov/alert419.shtml.
Report e-mail and online fraud to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center operated by the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center at www1.ifccfbi.gov, and the Federal Trade Commission at 877-FTC-HELP.
To contact PhoneBusters, a law enforcement organization in Canada that works closely with U.S. law enforcement to crack down on scams that originate north of the border (and many of them do), call (888) 495-8501.
