SAFETY TIPS | Operation
When using a chain saw, keep the base of the saw close to the log. Using the tip of the chain-saw blade might cause "kickbacks," which can lead to serious injury. Kickbacks occur when the chain catches on the wood and kicks the blade toward you. If you have an older saw, consider replacing the chain with an anti-kickback chain.
Always wear proper safety equipment, such as a face mask, ear muffs, steel-toed boots and work gloves.
Never use a chain saw above your chest level.
Turn the chain saw off before attempting to walk with it.
Hire a professional for jobs that require climbing.
Read your owner's manual thoroughly.
Never start a chain saw while it's off the ground. Instead, place the chain saw on the ground and place your foot in the handle to anchor the saw. When starting the saw, make sure the engine is choked and the chain break is on.
To prevent the chain saw from getting stuck in a tree, run it at full power and keep a firm grip.
