SAN FRANCISCO -- Doug Mientkiewicz homered and doubled twice and Joe Mays won his fourth straight start for Minnesota.
Barry Bonds homered in the fourth, driving a 1-1 pitch from Mays (7-3) into the seats in right-center at Pacific Bell Park. It was Bonds' 14th homer of the season and No. 627 of his career.
Cristian Guzman and Torii Hunter both doubled twice, and Corey Koskie and A.J. Pierzynski also had two hits apiece for first-place Minnesota.
Diamondbacks 2, White Sox 1
PHOENIX -- Chad Moeller singled home Shea Hillenbrand in the ninth inning.
The Diamondbacks rallied with runs in the eighth and ninth after seven shutout innings by Chicago's Esteban Loaiza.
Oscar Villarreal (4-3) struck out the only batter he faced for the victory.
Tom Gordon (2-5) took the loss.
Tigers 3, Padres 2
SAN DIEGO -- Dmitri Young hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning to give Detroit a win over San Diego in a matchup of the worst teams in the majors.
Young hit his 10th homer, a line shot to right, on the first pitch he saw from Brian Lawrence. It was the second straight start in which Lawrence stumbled after taking a shutout into the ninth.
Lawrence (3-7) allowed just four hits against the Tigers, whose .215 batting average is the worst in the majors, and he led 1-0 going into the ninth.
Dodgers 4, Royals 3
LOS ANGELES -- D.J. Carrasco walked Adrian Beltre with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning.
Shawn Green started the winning rally by drawing a one-out walk, and he went to second one out later when Carrasco threw a wild pitch.
Carrasco (3-4) intentionally walked Fred McGriff, then hit Jolbert Cabrera with a pitch to load the bases. Carrasco's full-count pitch to Beltre was high, giving the Dodgers the victory.
Angels 15, Expos 4
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Troy Glaus, Tim Salmon and Jeff DaVanon homered in the first inning to spoil the opener of Montreal's second homestand in San Juan.
While the fans were still settling into their seats, the World Series champion Angels struck for five runs against Tomo Ohka (4-6) before the first out.
Those who showed up late still got to see the biggest moment: Bengie Molina's three-run homer for the Angels in front of his home fans.
Molina, who was born in a suburb of San Juan, had four of Anaheim's season-high 22 hits.
Marlins 13, Athletics 2
MIAMI -- Mike Lowell hit a pair of three-run homers and Florida sent Mark Mulder to his worst start in nearly two years.
Brad Penny (4-3) pitched seven strong innings and hit a three-run triple for the Marlins, who won for the eighth time in 11 games.
The six RBIs set a career high for Lowell, who homered off Mulder as part of a six-run third inning, then connected again off John Halama in the fifth.
Derrek Lee went 4-for-4 and scored twice.
Oakland outfielder Eric Byrnes went 0-for-4, ending his 22-game hitting streak.
Mulder (8-3) allowed eight earned runs in 3 2/3 innings, matching the number of runs he yielded in his previous 60 innings. His ERA rose from 2.36 to 3.08.
Mariners 4, Phillies 0
PHILADELPHIA -- Jamie Moyer pitched seven sharp innings and Bret Boone homered, leading Seattle to its seventh straight victory.
The AL West-leading Mariners improved the majors' best record to 38-18. The Phillies had won three straight.
Moyer (9-2) gave up four hits, struck out eight and had no walks to win his sixth consecutive start.
Braves 6, Rangers 5
ATLANTA -- Andruw Jones came off the bench and hit a two-out, two-run homer in the eighth inning.
Rangers closer Ugueth Urbina (0-2) got ahead 0-2 before Jones connected for the first pinch-hit homer of his career.
Jones, who didn't start because of shoulder and knee injuries, was 2-for-27 as a pinch-hitter before his 14th homer of the season.
Astros 11, Orioles 6
HOUSTON -- Morgan Ensberg hit his first career grand slam in a six-run eighth inning by Houston.
Craig Biggio, Lance Berkman and Jeff Kent also homered for the Astros, who moved within a game of the first-place Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.
With Houston trailing 6-5 in the eighth, Berkman led off with a triple to the right-center gap and scored on Orlando Merced's double.
Buddy Groom (1-3) walked Brad Ausmus, Adam Everett sacrificed and a throwing error by third baseman Tony Batista gave Houston the lead.
Cardinals 11, Blue Jays 5
ST. LOUIS -- Matt Morris won his third straight decision and Jim Edmonds' two-run homer sparked a four-run seventh inning.
Edgar Renteria had three hits and three RBIs, Tino Martinez had two hits and three RBIs and Scott Rolen had three hits and scored twice as the Cardinals evened their record at 4-4 on a 13-game homestand, the longest of the season.
