Carlisle says 3 NBA teams show interest

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Former Detroit Pistons coach Rick Carlisle plans to pursue coaching jobs with three NBA teams this week during the NBA's pre-draft camp.
Carlisle told The Associated Press he would interview with two teams this week. Later, he said a third team called him Monday wanting to discuss its opening.
Carlisle, who declined to name the teams, was fired abruptly Saturday after guiding Detroit to a pair of 50-win seasons and an appearance in this year's Eastern Conference finals.
The 42-year-old Carlisle was let go with one year and $2 million remaining on his contract, despite winning two straight division titles and the 2002 NBA Coach of the Year award.
Carlisle, in his first head coaching job, helped turn Detroit from a lottery team into one of the top teams in East. He led the Pistons to a 100-64 regular-season record and a 12-15 postseason mark.
Their season ended May 24 after they were swept by New Jersey in the conference finals.
