YOUNGSTOWN City man faces menacing charge

YOUNGSTOWN -- Police charged Thomas R. Clark, 35, of Woodside Avenue with aggravated menacing after his two dogs charged at an officer.
Police reports say the officer was responding to a call from a citizen in Clark's East Side neighborhood about 9:30 p.m. Sunday when he heard two dogs barking behind him.
When he turned around, the officer saw a German shepherd and a boxer running toward him. The officer tried to enter his cruiser, but the door was locked. When he turned around again, the report says, the dogs were charging at him and appeared to be vicious.
The officer then fired one shot from his .40-caliber pistol, the report says, and both dogs fled.
The report says Clark, who owns the dogs, told the officer that he would kill him if he shot his pets.
The officer ordered Clark to secure his dogs several times before he complied, the report continues. After the dogs were secured, Clark was taken into custody.
