TOURNAMENT AHA to sponsor fifth annual benefit scramble



A variety of prizes will be available to participants.
HOWLAND -- The Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull divisions of the American Heart Association will sponsor the fifth annual Golf Classic Scramble on June 23 at Avalon Lakes Golf Course.
A shotgun start will begin at 1 p.m. Cost for the four-person scramble is $250 per player, and includes lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m., 18 holes of golf, cart, refreshments on the course and an awards reception.
Team and individual prizes will be awarded, and participants will have the opportunity to win two hole-in-one prizes, a new car and airfare for two to anywhere in the continental United States. There also will be special drawings for prizes.
Funds raised will support cardiovascular research. The association also sponsors educational and risk reduction programs throughout he community and lifesaving programs such as Operation Stroke to raise awareness about the warning signs of stroke and Operation Heart Beat, which assists first responders in assessing needs, obtaining funding, and implementing AED (automated external defibrillators) programs in their departments.

Co-chairmen for the tournament are Drs. Michael Burley and Walter P. Paladino.
