Fitch band sweeps several categories at Fiesta-Val

AUSTINTOWN -- The Fitch High School band took home the top award during a recent trip.
At the May 9-10 Fiesta-Val Invitational Music Festival in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the Fitch band swept the concert, jazz and marching band categories en route to winning the grand championship trophy.
The Fiesta-Val committee selected high school bands representing eight states to perform in the event.
The school also won first place in the concert division for the French horn solo performance, first place in the drum major division and first place for its drum section.
"We've been to competitions like this before, but this was the first time we got first place in everything," Director Lawrence Snell said.
Joe Pellegrini is the assistant band director and the jazz band director.
