Stoops clan reunion set at Mooney camp
YOUNGSTOWN -- The four Stoops brothers and their uncle will be reunited as part of the coaching staff for the Cardinal Mooney Football Camp of Champions on June 30 and July 1 at Mooney High School.
On hand will be: Bob Stoops, University of Oklahoma coach; Mike Stoops, defensive coordinator at Oklahoma; Mark Stoops, defensive backs coach at the University of Miami (Fla.); and Ron Stoops, defensive coordinator at Mooney. Also there will be the brothers' uncle, Bob Stoops, retired Youngstown State assistant coach. The Stoops brothers are sons of Ron Stoops, a former Mooney defensive coordinator.
The Stoops clan will be joined by: Mark Dantonio, defensive coordinator at Ohio State; Mark Pelini, defensive coordinator at Nebraska; and Gino Torretta, former quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner at Miami.
The two-day camp, open to youths in grades 4-9, will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. each day. The fee to attend is $45. Deadline to enroll is June 22.
