Nuclear power course
Navy Petty Officers 3rd Class Shaun M. Dickson (Jefferson, Ohio, Area Local High School, '01) and Joe W. Todd (Mineral Ridge High School, '01) have completed a nuclear power training course at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y.
Todd is a son of Cynthia L. and Howard B. Todd of Mineral Ridge.
Combat engineer work
Marine Corps Pvt. Jeffery A. Blewitt (Midview High School, Grafton, Ohio, '99), son of Linda Hall of Grafton and Paul E. Blewitt of Columbiana, graduated from the five-week Marine Corps Basic Combat Engineer Course at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
910TH AIRLIFT WING
Stationed in Vienna
Airmen 1st Class Jessica P. West and Jason A. Swift are members of the Air Force Reserve's 910th Maintenance Squadron at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Vienna. West is an electro-environmental apprentice and the daughter of Georgia West of Youngstown.
Swift is a propulsion apprentice and the son of Wayne and Darla Swift of Greenville, Pa. He attended Reynolds High School, Greenville.

838th Military Police
Several area residents normally assigned to the 838th Military Police Company in Austintown participated in Operation Noble Eagle at Fort Belvoir, Va., after being deployed to provide force protection at the installation. They include:
UArmy Sgt. Derek A. Rubicky, a military police officer. He is a son of Ron and Julie Rubicky of Boardman, and a 1986 graduate of Boardman High School.
UArmy Sgt. Joshua A. Traenkle, an administration specialist. He is the son of Ray G. and Mary M. Traenkle of Champion and a 1997 graduate of Champion High School.
UArmy Master Sgt. Richard T. Baldwin, a military policeman. Baldwin's sister and brother are Sandra Allison of Youngstown and Robert Baldwin of Poland. He is a 1973 graduate of Youngstown Chaney High School.
In Southwest Asia
Several area residents are serving in Southwest Asia assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 7, based in Gulfport, Miss. They include:
UNavy Seaman David E. Griffin, whose wife, Raellen, is the daughter of Tina A. and Mike P. Rothwell of Youngstown.
UNavy Constructionman Jeremy Manke, son of Richard J. Manke of Columbiana. He is a 2001 graduate of Crestview High School, Columbiana.
UNavy Constructionman Dustin A. Bozzo, son of Melanie A. Bochert of Greenville, Pa., and Angelo D. Bozzo of Hermitage, Pa. Bozzo is a 2002 graduate of Reynolds High School, Greenville.
UNavy Senior Chief Petty Officer Scott D. Morris, a 1981 graduate of Joseph Badger High School, Kinsman.
UNavy Petty Officer 3rd Class Daniel R. Tanner, son of Tami J. Tanner of New Middletown and Russell L. Tanner of Edinburg, Pa. Tanner is a 1999 graduate of Mohawk Area High School, Bessemer.
Back from Mideast
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Marco A. Garza, whose wife, Brooke, is the daughter of Jaqueline and Jefferey Mercer of East Liverpool, recently returned from a deployment to the Middle East. He was assigned to the guided missile frigate USS Thach, which has its home port in San Diego, Calif.
