Former president suesThermal Ventures
YOUNGSTOWN -- James Mullen, the former president of Youngstown Thermal and Akron Thermal, has filed a lawsuit over his dismissal by the companies' parent, Thermal Ventures of Youngstown. The suit, which doesn't ask for a specific amount of damages, was filed Thursday against Thermal Ventures in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Mullen's claims include age discrimination and breach of contract. The suit says the 62-year-old Youngstown resident, who worked for the company since 1991, learned of his dismissal from an insurance form in February. Mullen was placed on short-term disability in October after several surgeries and other treatments last year, the suit says. Mullen tried to return to work full time in November but was told he couldn't unless he agreed to cut his $104,000-a-year salary in half, the suit says. He was told he would be fired for "lack of performance" if he didn't accept the pay cut, it says.
Thermal Ventures officials couldn't be reached for comment.
