Free seating
CANFIELD -- Seating will be free in the Canfield Fairgrounds grandstands when Canfield Harness Horsemen's Association stages harness races Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
The horse will either be horses qualifying for Northfield or those making their first start behind a gate.
Donations will be accepted to support the club's two $500 scholarships for 4-H or FFA.
Scrappers Fan Fest
NILES -- The Mahoning Valley Scrappers' Fan Fest is set for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cafaro Field.
Among the activities available will be batting practice, skills contests, stadium tours, souvenir discounts, free hot dogs and pictures with Scrappy.
On June 14, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers Backers will hold their annual picnic at 5:30 p.m. The picnic will include player introductions and dinner.
There also will be a presentation of scholarship awards to area students, with a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and player autograph session.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children 10-and-under.

* CANFIELD -- The 31st annual Mar-Hill Mixed Doubles Tournament commences today at Amron Lanes.

* STRUTHERS -- The 31st annual Steel Valley Senior Bowling Tournament concluded with only 63 pins separating the winner from the fifth-place team.
Boardman Lanes V won with 2,663, Reck Less was runner-up with 2,643, No Belt had 2,631, Kanes 4 rolled 2,604 and Over 40 Gang tallied 2,600. Boardman Lanes team members were Ron Theis, Lloyd Hays, Nancy Hays and Lefty Shopinsky.
* BOARDMAN -- P.J. Katsaras and his father, Dean, will take part in the Bowling Centers Association of Ohio/BPAA Family Tournament after in-house qualifying at Camelot Lanes recently.
The BCAO/BPAA state event on June 6-7 is also at Camelot. The winner will advance to the national tournament in Texas in July.
In the Youngstown Junior City Tournament, P.J., a freshman at Boardman High, won all-events in AA boys, placed first in single and had high set actual in doubles.
In the past months, P.J. was a member of the Boardman High boys team, participated in the high school scratch traveling league and was among the Camelot youth league bowlers.
Last fall, Katsaras won a $500 scholarship for winning his division in the Grand Prix Tournament.

Jeff Van Gundywon't coach 76ers
PHILADELPHIA -- Jeff Van Gundy won't be coaching the Philadelphia 76ers.
Van Gundy, who already interviewed for the Cleveland Cavaliers' vacancy, spoke to Sixers general manager Billy King on Wednesday night.
"We mutually agreed it wasn't a good fit," Van Gundy said Thursday.

BOSTON -- The Red Sox traded All-Star third baseman Shea Hillenbrand to Arizona for Byung-Hyun Kim, cashing in their most tradable player for a former reliever who will join their rotation.
