Angels 2, Devil Rays 1
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Jarrod Washburn (5-5) allowed four hits, struck out three, walked three and hit two over 62/3 innings, improving to 6-1 all-time against Tampa Bay. Garret Anderson had an RBI single during the Angels' two-run first inning. Brad Fullmer had to be restrained near the Angels' dugout after he was ejected by umpire Charlie Reliford after being called out trying to score in the sixth inning.
Rangers 8, Orioles 4
BALTIMORE -- Hank Blalock went 3-for-3, walked twice and scored two runs as Texas ended Baltimore's four-game winning streak. Ruben Sierra hit a two-run homer in the ninth, helping the Rangers to their ninth win in 11 games. Ismael Valdes (5-2) allowed two runs and four hits in 52/3 innings to earn his second win over the Orioles in seven days.
White Sox 3, Blue Jays 2
TORONTO -- Esteban Loaiza allowed just two runs in 72/3 innings against his former team. Carlos Delgado hit his 16th homer, but he committed two of Toronto's season-high four errors, including one that led to two unearned runs in the fourth inning. Loaiza (8-2) allowed five hits but saw his league-leading ERA increased from 1.92 to 1.96.
Mariners 10, Twins 6
MINNEAPOLIS -- Bret Boone homered, doubled twice and drove in four runs, and Gil Meche pitched seven-plus strong innings. The AL West-leading Mariners tied their season high for hits with 18 and won for the 10th time in 13 games. The Central-leading Twins had won 21 of their last 27 games. Boone's two-run homer off Brad Radke (5-5) was his 14th home run of the season, and the 200th of his 13-year major league career. Carlos Guillen had his second career four-hit game for the Mariners.
Athletics 6, Royals 1
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Mark Mulder tied for the AL lead with his eighth win. Mulder (8-2) improved to 6-0 against Kansas City, allowing eight hits in seven innings. He lowered his ERA to 2.36, second in the AL to Chicago's Esteban Loaiza (1.96) and pitched at least seven innings for the ninth straight start. Kansas City got its only run on Angel Berroa's two-out RBI double in the seventh.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Brewers 3, Padres 2
SAN DIEGO -- San Diego's Brian Lawrence took a three-hit shutout into the ninth but stumbled. Lawrence (3-6) allowed Scott Podsednik's double leading off the ninth, then retired two batters. Brady Clark singled to score Podsednik, took second on a wild pitch and scored the tying run on Wes Helms' double. Helms scored the go-ahead run on Eddie Perez's single, chasing Lawrence.
Rockies 12, Dodgers 5
DENVER -- Todd Helton had his second career three-homer game and had a career-high six RBIs to lead the Colorado to its fifth straight win. Helton hit a two-run homer in the first inning off Odalis Perez (4-3), a solo shot in the fourth against Perez and another two-run homer in the eighth off Eric Gagne. Helton, who has 10 homers this season, also singled in a run in the third.
Mets 5, Phillies 0
PHILADELPHIA -- Steve Trachsel (4-2) pitched 62/3 shutout innings, allowing five hits, to win his fourth consecutive start. Cliff Floyd had a two-run double and Rey Sanchez, Jeromy Burnitz and Tony Clark each had RBI doubles for the Mets. Graeme Lloyd pitched 11/3 innings, working out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh, and Armando Benitez struck out the side in the ninth.
Expos 3, Marlins 2
MIAMI -- Orlando Cabrera's bloop RBI single capped a three-run rally in the seventh inning for Montreal. Montreal's Tomo Ohka (4-5) allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings. Rocky Biddle got three outs for his 15th save in 16 chances. With a runner on second and two outs, pinch-hitter Brian Banks flied out.
Astros 7, Cardinals 4
ST. LOUIS -- Jeff Kent hit two doubles in the last two innings as Houston recovered from giving away a three-run lead. The Astros scored twice in the eighth and added two more runs in the ninth after failing to hold a 3-1 lead in the seventh. Kent's double with one out in the eighth knocked out Cardinals starter Matt Morris. Jeff Fassero (0-2) relieved and Lance Berkman hit a grounder that shortstop Edgar Renteria missed for St. Louis' third error and scored Kent.
