Officials mum on status of teen accused in sexual assault of girl
WARREN -- Court officials are not revealing the fate of a 13-year-old boy accused of raping a 10-year-old girl.
The boy entered a plea Wednesday afternoon.
Trumbull County Juvenile Court officials refused to say what the plea was, what the charge is or what type of punishment the boy might be facing.
Judge Pamela Rintala would not comment on the case, saying records on the case are not public.
"The matter was resolved the proper way," said Atty. Michael Scala, who represents the boy.
The boy has remained in the county juvenile detention center since his arrest in March, officials said.
The boy could be ordered to serve time in a state Department of Youth Services facility until he is 21.
Police reports say the victim was walking home around 5 p.m. March 7 along York Avenue on Warren's southwest side when she was attacked.
When the girl got home, she told a relative, and police were contacted.
